How to clean the Brekr

The Brekr B4000 should never be cleaned with a high pressure cleaner. Watch the video on how to clean your Brekr the right way in 3 simple steps.

Maintenance for your Brekr

It is important to maintain your Brekr properly. This way you ride savely, extend the life of your Brekr, avoid higher maintenance costs and maintain the full warranty. Your Brekr needs maintenance at least once a year or every 6,000 kilometers.

General tips

1. Inflate your tires
A softer tire may not be immediately visible, but it significantly reduces the range. If you have less range than usual, check your tire pressure. You can read the correct pressure in the table below (the same table can also be found under the seat of your Brekr).
2. Check the brake fluid level
To make sure your brakes stay functioning well, you should check your brake fluid level every few months. To add more brake fluid, first unscrew the cap of the reservoir before filling it up to the maximum fill marker.
3. Vaseline voor de connector
Do you notice that the connector fits less well than before? This is probably because there’s some dirt in it. Fortunately, you can easily fix this yourself by spraying Vaseline spray on the top of the cap of the connector.

MAXIMIZING THE BATTERY'S LIFESPAN

The Brekr B4000 has an advanced battery equipped with a Batter Management System (BMS). The capacity of every battery decreases with use. Therefore, always treat your battery with care for a longer lifespan.

  • Both the battery and the charger should be placed in a dry environment. Charge the battery only at an ambient temperature between 0 °C and 40 °C and preferably at room temperature.
  • When the battery itself is too warm (for example immediately after use) it will not be able to charge. The battery will show this by all 5 LEDs flickering briefly and the HV light going out briefly. You have to let the battery cool down gradually to room temperature.
  • Never put the battery away empty. If the battery is completely empty, charge it first. Storing a dead battery can cause deep discharge and irreparably damage your battery. This is not covered under warranty.

Storage tips

When you do not use the Brekr and/or the battery for an extended period of time, make sure that the battery is stored carefully to maximize its lifespan:
• Charge the battery 50% to 60% when you are not going to use it for more than a month.
• Disconnect the battery from the Brekr or charger when you store it.
• Make sure the battery is off. You turn the battery off by pressing the on/off button for 3 seconds. If no LED lights up, the battery pack is turned off.
• Both the battery pack and charger should be stored in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place, away from corrosive materials, power and heat sources. The ambient temperature should be between 10°C and 30°C and the relative humidity (RH) less than 65 percent.
• Every two months, you should briefly use the battery. After that, store it again with a 50 to 60 percent charge.
• After long-term storage, you should charge the battery 100% before use.
• The GPS module has its own battery which get power from the battery. After 30 days without power from the bigger battery, this battery will will be empty. When you reconnect the battery, the GPS module battery recharges itself

Finally

Keep the battery away from fire and heat sources. It is forbidden to throw the battery into the fire. Only specified and original chargers may be used to charge the Brekr battery. This charger and battery have been subject to strict inspection before leaving the factory and it is strictly forbidden to disassemble the battery or charger, otherwise the warranty will be void.
